South Field Electrical Centre

Core provided project management to YVR for three separate infrastructure projects including the North Field Electrical Centre Upgrade, South Field Electrical Centre Upgrade, and Electrical Vehicle Charging Station additions. The largest of the three projects, the SFEC upgrade, included the removal and replacement of aging electrical equipment and infrastructure which powered YVR’s south runway.

The scope of the project included a new 12,500 sqft two-storey building to house the electrical equipment, equipment to power the south runway airfield lighting, installation of two large generators for 100% backup power, an external fuel tank, a new 1500kVA substation, and wet and gaseous fire suppression systems.
