Vancouver Transit Centre (VTC)

Justin Pedley acted as Project Manager for TransLink for a new $75M, 225,000sf transit operations and maintenance centre located in South Vancouver on the North side of the Arthur Laing bridge.

The facility is designed to hold, dispatch, and maintain a fleet of 400 buses including electric trolley buses. The VTC facility included a single storey maintenance area that surrounds a four-storey support building which contains storage, administration, depot, training, and a cafeteria. There are also six ancillary buildings: carbon rack for trolleys, a vault pull, fuel island, bus wash, wastewater treatment plant, and a 4 MVA rectifier station.

Service bays are arranged in both a hybrid herringbone layout for daily servicing/running repairs, and either back-in-drive-out or drive-through for maintenance (repair) procedures, as well as a body shop, paint booth and heavy maintenance bays.
