South Shore Corridor Project

Justin Pedley acted as Project Director for Port Metro Vancouver (PMV) who is delivering the project on behalf of four funding partners (PMV, Transport Canada, CN, and CP).

The $75M, linear civil project on Port land on the South side of the Burrard Inlet enhances and improves the Port road and rail capacity to allow for the expected 30% increase in bulk commodities and 70% increase in container traffic that is expected on the South Shore.

Key elements of the project include:

  • Construction of an 800m long elevated roadway between Clark Drive and Victoria Drive to grade separate 10 road-rail at-grade conflicts.
  • 30m pedestrian overpass at Victoria Drive.
  • A 1500m realignment and widening of Commissioner St
  • An upgrade and rebuild of 3 Port entrances at Heatley Drive, Clark Drive and Commissioner Street
  • Improvements to two City intersections at Commissioner/McGill and Commissioner/New Brighton
  • Upgrades to Port operational and security control systems including CCTV and Vehicle Access Control systems (VACS)
